Phosphor copper is generally produced in three levels of phosphor content – 8, 10 and 15% – to standard specifications (JIS, ASTM, DIN, European), but we can also manufacture to individual requirements. The material comes in different forms – waffle plate, shot (granules), tablets and 8mm x 1m sticks.
We can tailor pricing mechanisms to suit individual needs as an alternative to buying on a spot price, which can be an advantage with changing market conditions. This may be on an market average, or a future date - do ask how we may be able to help!
What is phosphor copper?
A deoxidant widely used in the copper industry and for certain aluminium alloy applications. Phosphor copper is used mainly for copper-based casting alloys, copper refining, copper tube production and the manufacture of brazing rods.
Phosphorus is used as a reactive element due to its high affinity with oxygen, yet remains stable whilst in alloy form. Production is complex for many reasons: the changing melting points of the alloy as the phosphorus level changes, the environmental controls required, and the need for a uniform phosphorus content.
